Job Purpose

The Junior Design Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Senior Technical Engineer in the development of innovative equipment for the Waste and Recycling Industry.

Key Duties

  •  Proficient in the use Solidworks design
  • Assist in the development of projects from concept design to on site testing
    ensuring a high standard of Quality Control is achieved throughout
  • Assist in the development of in-house quality control standards and procedures
  •  Ability to work alongside the team in concept design for the development of new
    products and solutions for modifications to existing product ranges
  • Ability to research and implement global standards such as CE / UK
  • Contribute to the reduction of manufacturing costs through the implementation of
    improved designs
  •  Interface with other staff and teams on design, productions and purchasing
  • Liaising with the Senior Technical Engineer and Ecohog sales network to
    provide required drawings
  •  Occasional site visits to measure and survey existing equipment when required
  • Consideration of material, manufacturing process and fitting efficiencies in
  •  Assist with the preparation of Technical and Operational Manuals for equipment
  • Liaise with distribution network team on equipment performance and
    recommended improvements
  • Awareness of logistics and transport legislation globally
  • Stay familiar with competitors, legislations and market trends to ensure
    equipment is innovative and fit for purpose on a global scale
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills and the ability to prioritise are
  • Complete any necessary training as required
  • Occasional travel as required


  •  Placement or Graduate working towards or has achieved an Engineering Degree or
    equivalent in Engineering

Experience / Skill / Knowledge

  • Solidworks proficiency
  • Machine quality control
  • CE marking and other international equipment standards
  • Test and analysis experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – must be able to interface with other engineers, personnel, suppliers, partners and customers
  • A creative flair and innovative design ability
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem solving
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Written and oral communication
  • Commercial appreciation advantageous
  • Design experience in a machine manufacturing capacity desirable but not essential as
    on the job training will be given
  • Knowledge of the waste industry and applications desirable but not essential as on the
    job training will be given
