50th Anniversary Of Earth Day

50th Anniversary Of Earth Day

Today marks the 50th year anniversary of Earth Day!

The theme this year for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day is Climate Action, which is extremely challenging. Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable. Earth Day first began on April 22nd 1970 as a response to an environment in crisis with oil spills, smog, rivers so polluted they literally caught fire (Earth Day 2020).

This year, today April 22nd Earth Day is going digital due to the worldwide pandemic we are in to celebrate its 50th anniversary. There will be live streamed discussions, global digital surge and 24 hours of actions and it is important that we can all join in to help change our lives and world forever.

Earth Day is important to the ethos of Ecohog as we supply equipment to the waste and recycling industry helping the planet all year round through protecting the planet from pollution by reducing the amount of rubbish being sent to landfill making a profitable end product.
